OUR HISTORY
HOW WE STARTED
The Ascension Parks Foundation was founded by four local residents who saw the need for improved recreational options and access to promote an active lifestyle in Ascension Parish. Tia Starr and Monika Arnold contributed to the development of the Prairieville Dog Park in 2021, witnessing firsthand the positive impact it has had on local pet owners and their dogs. Branden Bennett played a key role in raising funds, designing, and building the original skate park on Irma Boulevard in 2012, and later assisted in relocating it to its current location behind CC’s Coffee at Oak Grove Park in 2021. Chase Ruiz, a local CPA and father, joined the effort to create more opportunities for children to connect, get active, and enjoy the community. The Ascension Parks Foundation emerged from a shared passion for the well-being and future of the parish and its residents. After more than a year of careful planning and development, the Foundation is proud to contribute to making Ascension Parish a better place for all.
